Absence Due to the Medical Reason
A candidate who is absent from an examination due to medical reasons must submit a medical certificate issued by a government-registered medical officer. This certificate must be endorsed (signed and stamped) by the University Medical Officer. The endorsed certificate must be submitted to the Senior Assistant Registrar of the Faculty within two weeks from the date of the relevant examination paper, for consideration by the Faculty Board and the Senate.
In addition, students are required to submit their applications through the examination system from this examination cycle (June/July 2025 Examinations) onwards. The original medical certificate must be submitted to the Examinations Unit within the same two-week period.
Absence Due to Bereavement
A candidate who is absent from an examination due to the death of an immediate family member (parent, sibling, or—if married—spouse or child) may be excused upon the approval of the Faculty Board and the Senate. Students must submit a death certificate along with proof of the relationship.
Such applications must also be submitted through the examination system, and the relevant supporting documents must be submitted to the Examinations Unit within two weeks from the date of the relevant examination paper.
How to Apply through the Examination System
1. Visit the Examinations Unit website
2. Log in to your student account
3. Click on "Absent Justification" under the "Application/Letters" menu
4. Follow the instructions provided on the page for further details
Important Notes:
- Applications must be submitted through the examination system from this examination cycle (June/July 2025) onwards
- The original certificate(s) must be submitted to the Examinations Unit within two weeks from the date of the relevant examination paper.
- Late submissions will not be considered.
